In spite of our current warm spell, winter is coming soon. Take this time to go through our November Home Maintenance checklist to ensure you are keeping up on important home maintenance duties.
Remove Lint from Dryer Exhaust Vent
According to The Consumer Product Safety Commission, there are thousands of residential fires annually that are attributed to dryers. Be sure to clean your dryer hose and around it at least once per year, and inspect the vent and hose for any blockages at least every six months.
Clean Garbage Disposal
You may think your disposal is relatively clean considering how often water runs through it, but food particles can often get trapped inside creating the perfect environment for mold and bacteria to grow. Take the extra step to clean and sanitize your garbage disposal this month.
Clean Your Air Vents
Dirt migrates in vent covers and ducts and becomes a breeding ground for all types of dust mites. Heat vents blowing during cool months causes dirt and grime to blow throughout your home. These microscopic dust mites scatter throughout your home. Be sure to clean your vent covers, areas and ducts.
Replace Broken Snow Shovels, Stock Up on Ice Melt and and Service Your Snow Blower
Now is the time to check and make sure your snow throwing tools are working and you’re set before the first main storm arrives. If you wait you’ll inevitably hit the crowds at the stores. Make sure you have solid snow shovels, that your snow blower is working well and you’re set with salt for your walkways and driveway.
